EXPERIENCE:
Greenland Police Station, Greenland, NH
Project manager for the sitework design of the Greenland Police Station. Responsible for the site grading, layout, and sitework construction contract administration. Oversaw State permit approvals. Interfaced between the Town Administrator, Police Department, Selectmen, Building Inspector, and Contractor to provide a cost efficient site design.
Northwood Community School, Northwood, NH
Project
manager/project engineer for the classroom and gymnasium addition to the
existing school facility. Successfully
completed in Spring of 2002, design challenges included designing safe bus
access on narrow and steep lot, realigning a culvert/streambed outside the
building envelope, updating the existing septic system.
Designed and
permitted the expansion to the existing medical office building. Responsible for the site grading,
permitting, coordination with the architect and owner. Site challenges included site grading with
an upslope wetland, and maintaining the existing landscape vegetation.
Designed, permitted and oversaw the construction for the replacement of a
5,000 gallon per day septic system. The
septic system services a seasonal restaurant and marina with boat pump-out
facilities on Little Bay. All of the tanks
and the pump chamber are within the tidal buffer zone and below mean
sea-level.
Downtown Portsmouth Redevelopment, Portsmouth, NH
Worked with
private developer to redevelop the former First National Bank parcels in
downtown Portsmouth. The development
included 11-townhouse condominiums, 28,300 square foot mixed commercial,
retail, residential and subsurface parking garage facility. Design challenges included streetscape,
design, municipal utility design and relocations, municipal traffic impact concerns,
drainage and sewer separation.
Construction for the townhouses is scheduled to begin fall 2002.
Hollis-Brookline Cooperative High School, Hollis, NH
Responsible for all aspects of the site design, permitting, and construction documents for the 800-student Cooperative High School. Prepared detailed cost estimates. Siting the school on the 70-acre sloping site was critical to minimize ledge removal, minimize wetland disturbances, and balance earthwork quantities. Design included three high school athletic fields, 3,500 LF of roadway, a 400-car parking lot, and a multi-field 13,500 GPD subsurface sewage disposal system.
Huntington Commons, Kennebunk, ME
Worked as a subconsultant on the multi-phased 38-unit duplex and 72-unit congregate care facility expansion in Kennebunk, Maine. Responsible for the stormwater management design and report, site grading, and coordination with other consultants.
Rye Junior High and Elementary Schools, Rye, NH
Designed the new septic system for both junior high school and elementary school expansions, logged test pits, coordinated designs with the project architect. Existing systems were undersized. Obtained the permits for the 2,750 GPD and 5,000 GPD subsurface waste disposal systems.
Riverside Plaza, Keene, NH
Obtained the state and local permits for the multi-phased expansion to a 20-acre shopping center. Work included realignment of roadway circulation, parking layout, utility design, permitting, cost estimates, construction documents, and construction inspection. Responsible for on-going tenant development engineering needs.
United Parcel Service, Laconia, NH
Designed the retrofit of the sanitary pre-treatment equipment waste disposal design. Responsible for the design of floor drains, pump stations, force main, grease and grit traps. Prepared documents for the Winnipesaukee River Basin Program discharge permit.
Concord District Court House, Concord, NH
Designed the civil engineering
aspects for the construction of the 22,000 SF District Court House and the associated
off-site roadway improvements to Clinton Street, including utility design, site
layout, and grading.
Region 14, Applied Technical Center, Peterborough, NH
Provided civil engineering design and construction inspection for the expansion at the Conval Regional High School. Design responsibilities included utility extensions, drainage, roadways, parking areas for the three-building expansion. Prepared construction documents and provided inspection services.
Barnstead Elementary School, Barnstead, NH
Retained by the School District, during the 500-student Elementary school, expansion to economically redesign the approved subsurface disposal system. The 10,500 GPD septic system redesign resulted in a $55,000 cost savings to the school district.
Winnacunnet High School, Hampton, NH
Provided civil engineering design
services for the auditorium and parking lot expansion to the existing High
School. Design utility relocations,
site grading, construction documents, and coordination with the architect.
Town of Stratham, NH
Provided civil engineering
commercial site plan and subdivision technical reviews for the Planning Board.
Worked directly with the Rockingham County Planning Commission. Pertinent issues included vehicular and pedestrian
access, wetlands, and site drainage.

Town of Raymond, Department of Public Works, Raymond, NH
Provided civil engineering design services for the Economic Development Administration Project Grant for the revitalization of the downtown area. Design responsibilities included roadway realignment, contract document preparation, coordination with the architect, and meeting the ADA’s handicap accessibility requirements.
Route 108 Drainage Improvements, Town of Madbury, NH
Provided drainage improvements and site design to the existing Route 108/Freshet Road intersection. Responsibilities included site layout, coordination with NHDOT District 6, and roadway intersection realignment.
C & J Trailways Terminal, Pease Tradeport, Portsmouth, NH
Designed the conversion of the former Air Force Base movie theater to a bus terminal. Responsible for the site layout modifications and alignment for the 400-car parking lot. Project was the first to be approved by the Pease Development Authority.
New Hampshire Department of Safety, Fire Training Academy, Concord, NH
Designed the 50-bed dormitory and 3-bay fire station construction at the existing Fire Training Academy. Provided site layout, design, permitting, and construction-related services for the expansion to Fire Training Academy's facilities. Designed extensions to the municipal utility services, on-site truck wash down holding tank, and storm water management system. Project received two architectural design awards.
New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH
Designed the Veteran’s cemetery in Boscawen. Responsible for coordination with the Landscape Architect, roadway layout and design and final grading. Designed and obtained the permits the chapel and maintenance building septic systems.
Sub-contractor/Project Engineer for the design of the Sixth Street Connector. Project funded by the City of Dover to provide off-site improvements for access to the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s Corporate Headquarters. Responsible for roadway layout, grading and drainage designs. Also responsible for generating all of the roadway plans. Construction was completed in 1997 for approximately $400,000.
Designed and permitted the construction of two multi-purpose fields, a baseball field, and gravel parking areas for the 6 acre active recreation area. Responsible for finalization of the recreation commission’s concept plans, grading, permitting, and periodic inspections.
Rochester Vocational Center, Rochester, NH
Project Engineer for a new 88,000
SF Vocational Center. Responsible for
site design including layout, utility relocation, drainage, permitting, and
inspection.
Crockett’s Crossing, Somersworth, NH
Designed and permitted the 45-unit multi-family housing development. Responsible for all phases of the site engineering and planning process. Project design requirements included meeting the Federal criteria for investor tax credits. Design included permitting for wetland fills of approximately 7,000 SF, on-site collection system for sewer connection City collection system, storm water drainage design and multi-purpose recreation fields.
Provided site design for the modular 45-unit congregate care facility. Responsible for all phases of civil engineering required for the state and local permitting of the facility. Project design required over 19,000 SF of wetland disturbance. Facility is opened in the spring of 1999.
Provided engineering consulting services to private residences for the sewer extension/service connections to the municipal collection sewage system. Responsible for both wetlands and sewer extension permitting and design. Sewer design included: coordination of survey, force main and pump station design, collection system locations, coordination with property owners and utility companies and construction inspection/administration.
University of New Hampshire Remote Library Storage Building, Durham NH
Provided civil engineering design services for construction of the library storage facility. Worked with the project architect to coordinate the utility services, site grading and site improvements required to complete the building expansion at the Durham campus.
J. H. Realty Trust, Stratham, NH
Designed and permitted the building 26,400 SF retail and self-storage facility. Site constraints included maximizing the development within the commercial zoning district to use the residential district areas for siting the septic system and detention pond areas.
Greenland Central School, Greenland, NH
Designed and permitted the subsurface waste disposal system for the 425-student elementary school located on the existing 3.9-acre parcel in the center of the Town. Design constraints included the existing build location, the close proximity to the abutting property lines and connecting the multiple existing discharge locations. System construction was completed in 1993. In 1998, the school district purchased additional land and sited two modular classrooms on the property. Designed and obtained the permits to connect the modular classrooms to the existing system. In 2002, the Gale Associates, Inc., the architect for the school, subcontracted Altus to complete the design to expand the subsurface waste disposal system for a capacity of 635 occupants.
Designed and permitted the subsurface waste disposal system for the 30-unit mobile home park. The existing trailer park’s lagoon wastewater treatment system is approximately 30 years old. A CDBG grant provided funding to permit and construct a new septic system. Innovative design was incorporated to provide treatment due the challenging site restrictions.
